Before you answer – these activities are a waste of time:
1. Internal linking from pages with no tarffic
2. Navigation and footer links – links must be in body
3. On a low auth site -more than 1 link is going to neutralize itself
In terms of backlinks – while you can and should build these – you need to didscount them from SEO:
1. Any and all social media
2. Almost all PR
3. Any links from pages that have organic traffic
4. Profile and bookmark sites
While you can debate crawling and context – you need authority.

When I hit a wall like this, I try to step back and look at intent and content depth versus just technical fixes. DR and backlinks help, but Google increasingly favors pages that fully satisfy searcher intent. For a service page, sometimes the missing factor is perceived expertise or trust signals, things like structured FAQs, client logos, case studies, or even detailed process descriptions. Internal linking from blog or informational pages can also pass relevance authority to these service pages.
If video is off the table, consider alternative media: diagrams, schematics, or interactive visuals. Finally, don’t underestimate on-page UX signals, bounce rates, time on page, and mobile friendliness can all cap rankings even if the “SEO basics” look fine.
