If it was easy to get and keep clients, most SEOs would “graduate” from agency/in-house work to freelance/boutique work.
While getting clients is a big challenge, keeping them is another. Being self employed and keeping clients isn’t just about being an SEO expert.

I charge $1,000/month to manage and host the site, add new content, update social sites, update GMB, low energy backlinking and do whatever they ask throughout the month.
I charge 15% of ad spend on PPC with a min of $5,000/month. If you’re spending less then $5k I’ll do it for $500/month. If someone wants to only do $500$1,000 in PPC I rather not bother with it.
I bring in about $2500/month per client.
It’s just me though and I have a full time job so I only have a couple clients. I’d love to take on more clients but I don’t have the time and I don’t trust anyone else to manage an account.
The best way to get clients is to prove your worth. If you meet someone who has a business and is doing these things ask them if they’d be willing to let you do it for a month or 2 for free to see if you can help out their cause. Work your but off for that time and try to show them some results.
I did it for 2 months for a current client and it was worth it. I love having that extra $2500 a month.
Don’t get greedy, don’t take on more than you can handle, don’t ever lie to them, and try to dumb things down enough so you’re able to explain things to people without them needing to google every 5th word. That’s the best way to keep your clients.
