I don’t provide any reports unless requested by the client. When they finally ask, they get more report than they know what to do with. I do this on purpose and they never ask again. They don’t even ask questions about what I sent.
When clients fail to be responsible for their own content and traffic after I’ve told them exactly what to do and I’ve given them videos walking them through it step by step, we’re not wasting time on reports.
I have one client who texts me every six weeks or so asking how we’re doing on SEO. I reply, “Still ranked #1 for the keywords you insist on!”

I’ve been in both the agency and corporate world, each over 20 years. People don’t read reports and the ones who do either don’t know what they’re reading or don’t have the authority or budget to do anything about it.
If they want to view something weekly they can get a Hulu account.
This is one reason I focus on revenue share models with really small orgs. I make your business make good money, and I take some of it. Stop questioning my ability and relax.

We automate reports on the 3rd of every month. Then by the 5th, I reply to them with the client included and give them a 2-3 sentence summary.
It goes by pretty quick.
Nope. Setup a Looker dashboard and schedule regular calls with them instead. It’s a lot faster to talk about things than it is to write a report. A 15-30 minute call replaces the hours it takes to put together a report.
