Does Ahrefs have a personalized KD score? SEMrush’s is pretty good
Semrush’s is pretty good, especially on the low and high end of the scales. It usually doesn’t get those wrong. If it says something is really easy, it is probably really easy. If it says something is really hard, it is probably really hard.
I would only use either tool as a guide. I would inspect the SERP yourself and make your own judgement on it.
KD varies by tool, so we usually focus more on search intent + competitor quality, if the SERP isn’t crazy strong, you can still rank even when tools disagree.
I have not once in my entire professional career taken KD into account.
Traffic from high volume, high-intent, commercial keywords drives pipeline. Answering/addressing common informational-intent queries drives visibility.
Overthinking KD is like aiming for the 1 in darts because it is pretty hard to hit the bullseye…
