A couple of things – I think its important to explain best practises and how Google works
Best practices are unfortunately just table stakes and often dont apply – xml sitemaps are a prime example. If you read the whole doc on sitemaps – Google tells us upfront that low authority domains will get ignored.
You’re probably better off with a HTML sitemap (search HTML v XML Sitemap for example)
1) Sitemaps dont force/enforce indexing – G doesnt read them A to Z and align everything – its just a checklist. One day, if you build/manage/shape authority – Google will assign it to a pool where it will be checked maybe every hour/day or even minute but just the latest URLs will be picked up
>he performance of the site is still lower than it was bevor and the search console claims,
Questions: did you keep the same URLs in the migration/rebranding ?
Some pointers
URL: google is a Page Level system. Your URL is your primary key – Pages rank, not domains. Pages get indexed, not domains, etc Pages have authority for keywords, not domains (per se – there is a siteAuthority but thats different for this purpose)
Are there any parts of the old domain – like subdomains – still live in Google? Do a site:[domain, com] search (replace the , for a . )
If you did change URLs from the old domain- – then my advice would be to recycle them
Just for expediency:
a) mydomain . com / about_us
and
b) mydomain . com /aboutus
and
c) mydomain . com/AbouUs.html
are not the same URLs
