do you mind sharing the website? you can send it privately if you don’t want to share it publicly
wait, try to improve. when you make changes it can fluctuate but not necessarily going to stay down. are the keywords still relevant to the page and in the title?
If it dropped right after a full rewrite, I’d first look at what actually changed structurally, not just content quality. Did you alter the URL, title tag, H1s, internal links, or anchor text pointing to it? Even small shifts there can reset how Google interprets the page.
Also worth checking whether you accidentally diluted the core intent. If it was ranking for very specific commercial queries and the rewrite made it broader or more “informational,” that can move you out of alignment with what’s currently ranking top 10.
I’d compare the old and new versions side by side and audit against the current SERP. Word count and polish matter less than matching intent, internal authority flow, and backlinks. If nothing technical broke, it may just need time to stabilize, especially if Google is re-evaluating the page.

This is a classic case of what I call “content shock” – Google sometimes needs time to recrawl and reassess pages after major changes.
A few things that have worked for me:
1. Check Google Search Console for any crawl errors or indexing issues after your update
2. Make sure your internal linking structure still points to this page properly
3. Look at your page load speed – sometimes adding images without optimization hurts Core Web Vitals
4. Consider if the new content changed your keyword density or semantic focus too much
The ranking drop from 15 to 25-30 isn’t necessarily permanent. Give it 2-3 weeks for Google to fully process the changes. If it doesn’t recover, you might want to revert some changes and A/B test smaller updates instead of a complete rewrite.

Ranking drops after a full rewrite are pretty normal. Google needs to recrawl and reassess the page, and when a lot changes at once, it can temporarily lose confidence in how to rank it. I’d give it 2-3 weeks before making any more changes.
Curious though: what made you decide to do a complete rewrite instead of incremental updates? And what specifically changed (headings, copy, images, URL, title tag)? This would help narrow down whether this is just Google re-evaluating or if something structural shifted the page’s intent.
