No, not really. If the headings are styled, but not necessarily labeled as H2, H3, etc., Google still seems to understand the intent.
I’m not recommending anyone not use proper headings, but it’s not as big of a deal as many people think it is.

H tag structure doesn’t matter much for rankings, but for Americans with Disabilities Act it does. More businesses are getting hit with ADA lawsuits, (even if they’re nonsense) it’s something to keep in mind. Granted, you can still get sued regardless whether you’re arguably compliant or not.
