It’s rough out here and I hate to say it but nobody is going to throw out a life preserver. I’m in the same boat as you but I’m 26. I also have an associates degree but in health science, i wanted to go medical but changed my direction. I decided to start applying to banking positions and now I’ve been working as a teller for a couple months. It’s also retail, but at least there are growth opportunities to make career advancements. I expect that with enough time and hard work I can make my way to backend and avoid the retail side of banking while also achieving a higher salary. Not too sure, but I believe that your cybersecurity degree may be of use in this case because banks are always needing IT people. Just a thought, because this is one of the few entry level paths with future potential as far as I can tell. I just wanted to say too, you might not want to drown your sorrows with alcohol regularly. That’s what I did and I paid the price for it. One year sober now, but that method of coping ended up causing me a lot of grief and setting me back in the long run. Anyways good luck!

How about this: you probably already have experience at WF with:

Point of sale displays (end caps, floor talkers, signage, etc) and how they affect sales

Checkout counter terminals, scanners, scales, conveyer belts, bags, carts

    Inventory software

Different brands of products (do you work in produce? Deli counter? Soft drinks and bottled waters?)

Every one of these things has a manufacturer, a team of field sales reps, trainers, etc. Your knowledge of how these things are actually used in a grocery store environment is valuable to them.

Look to them for jobs. (Or maybe Whole Foods corporate?). Then a few years later, you can pivot to the same type of work (sales, training, etc.) but for a different industry (sporting goods, cars, services, etc.)

You know things that someone who has never worked at a grocery store does not know.
