20F, diş hijyenisti veya hemşire olmak arasında seçim yapmakta zorlanıyor. Daha iyi seçim nedir?
Birkaç yıl ara veren 20F’yim çünkü dürüst olmak gerekirse hayatımda ne yapmak istediğime dair henüz hiçbir fikrim yok. Şu anda CNA olarak çalışıyorum, bu yüzden hemşirelikle ilgileniyorum. Alanı seviyorum ama işimde aşırı stresli ve sürekli şikayet eden çok sayıda hemşire de görüyorum, bu da beni kesinlikle tereddüt ettiriyor. Bununla birlikte, çok yönlü olması, tüm farklı kariyer seçenekleri ve üç 12’li çalışma ve dört gün izinli olma yeteneği nedeniyle hemşireliği hala seviyorum.
Aynı zamanda diş hijyenini de gerçekten düşünüyorum. Gördüğüm kadarıyla diş hijyenistleri işlerini gerçekten seviyor gibi görünüyorlar. Genellikle hemşirelerden biraz daha fazla maaş alıyorlar ve iş genel olarak çok daha az stresli görünüyor. Yüksek stresli ortamlarda pek iyi değilim, dolayısıyla diş hijyeni benim için daha uygun olabilir gibi geliyor çünkü daha öngörülebilir ve ofis bazlı bir yöntem ki ben de bunu tercih ediyorum.

One problem with dental hygienist jobs (and also dentists) is that they get hand and arm and bad stress injuries like carpal tunnel after not that many years of work. These jobs are very hard on the body.
I’d go for dental if I were you.
I chose nursing over dental because a) I am not working 5 8s. I want more than two days off a week and more schedule options than a 9-5 which is basically your one option in dental. I also am absolutely disgusted by mouths and don’t want to only ever work outpatient. I don’t love nursing, it’s really stressful and does suck a lot but I have no dream job, it’s a means to an end. I would rather clean shit all day every day than scrape plaque off some janky teeth though!
Pick the one you love ❤️ the most and passionate about! If it does not work out, you can switch gears and do the other one as your back up plan B!
There are promotional opportunities for nurses and various role. However, nursing has worse work life balance until get more experience. And it is also a lot more stressful.
For reference I am a RN in quality management and regulatory compliance.
Dental hygienist is a job. And maybe you will go to dental school later? Otherwise it is a pretty stable job, good pay and good work life balance with limited opportunities but also a lot less stressful.
I’d be a nurse
Working with good strong teeth tends to make hygienists happy. But when I’m in the chair they’re pretty stressed out.
So my first reaction is that nursing has the most potential. But as OP said, it can be really stressful.
Maybe it’s one of those fields where people have to put up with quite a lot as they work their way into a specialty that can be challenging – and rewarding.
