A couple of things – Link Farms are not PBNs. PBNs are reserved for Private use. Link Farms sell links. PBNs are no “upscale” Link Farms….
>SEO expert says PBN’s hurt websites but i find it PBN’s helps
Because you’re thinking too literally … If Google thinks your link sources are “unnatural” and it 0’s them (in other words removes their authority passage) – then thats bad for you.
The problem for anyone and everyone using Link Farms (and PBNs) is when will Google know?
And the common myth is that you can use % patterns to hide or shield you from this is also a myth.
Hope that Helps
Check out grumpy SEO guy. He covers this topic exclusively and in great detail.
This has been known for decades. I would stay away from PBNs though (Public Blog Networks) and focus instead on truly private networks. If they sell links, they are a public blog network, not private.
I built a course all about this in 2012.
Probably the hardest part of building your own is finding good domains to start with and avoiding common footprints.
And here is a free tip on a footprint most people miss. If you are hosting your sites using cpanel, go into the contact information and change the email address. It doesn’t have to be a real address. Make each one unique. This email address gets published publicly. I’ve found countless networks, sometimes hundreds of sites, by just finding the email address on one domain and doing a search for it. If I can do that, you better believe Google can.

Plenty of people rank with PBNs, but you just have to be realistic about the tradeoff.
Who is the “expert” that said that? Most high-ranking companies use PBNs, and I doubt any serious agency doesn’t have at least one PBN, it would be nonsensical
SEODev on youtube has been releasing weekly episodes on PBNs showing how to find the domains to use and rebuild them. Its worth a watch for anyone looking to get into it.
