You need to learn more about PageRank. PageRank is how Google works and is “fundamental” to SEO (the Google SEO Starter Guide).
Right now – reading your question, you’re position is based in “the publisher myth” – meaning that Google rewards publishers by frequency, velocity, word count and it doesnt.
Relevance = What you write about
Authority = Where you’re ranked against your peers.
Authority has nothing to do with perception or extraneous qualities – it literally comes from other sites linking to you and what authority they have. So its not about total backlinks. Each page will in turn have its own authority score, and pages on very high ranking sites have different levels of authority.
Context is critical too – linking (internally and externally) with “more” or “here” or jsut your brand name isn’t helpful when thinking about growing topical authority.
# Social Media and SEO
Social Media requires its own strategy but posting on X or any social site for that matter, including your profiles will not help with Google Authority.
Some people talk about “holistic marketing” – and this is just a nebulous platitude that lacks substance.
Absolutely create relationships and network – thats espoused by a lot of SEOs including myslef (like BNI, OpenCoffee, Podcasts etc)
>Should I focus on long articles, short daily posts, or something else?
Length doesnt matter – I usually start with 50 short pages and go from there
>Is it worth learning SEO at this stage, or should I just write consistently first?
Narrow your leaning to what works
>Are there any common mistakes new bloggers make in the tech niche that I should avoid?
Yes – they avoid PageRank and Topical Authority and buy into things like “Holistic Marketing”, EEAT and “citations” – often targeted at Content Marketing SEO – these seem lovely but they are pointless. SEO is technical
