Hey u/SEOMayDay – this is super easy. The Prompt (what you type into ChatGPT) is not the same as the search query you put into Google.
When you put a prompt into ChatGPT (even if you type the same words) – ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini modify it or break it out (called the [Query Fan Out](https://www.reddit.com/r/SEO/comments/1m1g8tp/community_llm_seo_discussion_the_query_fan_out/)) and this is what it searches – so the results are different.
There’s a video about “AI visibility” you can Google and it will show you how to do this
You need to answer the query in a full sentence.
Usually the top answer that answers the query in a full sentence will get that block.
I’m not sure what “top 1 in chatgpt” means, but anyway, use Schema, this is one of the cases where you must use it.
Top 1 for what query?
No necessary your website gets appear on all the AI tools or AIO if it’s appear on 1 AI tool like you mentioned or if it’s ranking in top of the SERP. not a big deal and it’s common … you should check with different variation of same keyword.
