Hi. I’ve been trying to build a server for fun for many years, and have cobbled together something that boots. It will be used to backup all my data since 1980.
I have an LSI SAS HBA with 4 sas ports. The (possibly) Chenbro case has a backplane with 16 drive ports, each with a 2tb HGST HDD connected to 4 SAS ports.
The HBA’s BIOS sees only 4 drives, so the OS only sees 4. I have changed out the cables and used them in different port-to-port connections.
I have a series of Molex LP4 to multiple LP4 splitters connected to ach of 4 backplane connectors and one to power the fan wall. The fans work. The drives all spin up. The indicator LEDs on each drive bay work. I’ve ordered replacement LP4 splitters, in case that’s the problem.
This is where my tech-fu ends. Any thoughts?
