  1. It’s annoying that pirate Bay does not put out a regular torrents of its metadata

    – ID number
    – info hash
    – category
    – title

And it’s especially odd coming from a site that is dedicated to torrents of data. Every year zip up the current database and seed it.

Instead you have to have people going through and scraping the pirate Bay.

They talk about all the mirrors, but make it damn near impossible to get a mirror. you think they would want to spread the information as far and wide as possible.

  2. Seriously? that is disappointingly low. I have 10tb of storage and it’s mostly used up from old projects, movies and music and a bunch of other stuff… basically what you’re telling me is thepiratebay only has about 25 times as much as me… something is off here.

  3. Does anybody else think that number seems a little low? Certainly I’ve torrented more than 2TB of data myself from magnet links on TPB.

Edit: just for kicks, I searched thepiratebay.rocks for “Jurassic World” (no quotes). There were almost 500 results, but only 323 are being seeded. I added up all the file sizes of all those torrents and got 1.185 tebibytes.

That means Jurassic World franchise data take up ~~0.5%~~ 0.05% of all TPB torrents currently being seeded. Seems dubious, that’s all I’m saying. Makes me wonder if somebody didn’t get off by a factor of 1000 somewhere (or 1024 as the case may be). (Edit: ironic math error)

  4. I wonder how many duplicate content, and how many unique content.

  5. So…. who’s gonna try to get that data in their hoard?
