The main issue is – I have to decide which file goes into which folder case by case, so most of the automatic programs of this nature simply won’t cut it. For example: I have a large collection of webms in my download folder and want to group them in folders like funny/video games/tutorials – there’s no way to do this automatically, because you can’t write some rules based on metadata for this use case.
The most straightforward way would be to open multiple file explorer windows and just drag and drop the files to their corresponding folders – but this can easily get overwhelming when there’s a lot of different folders.
I tried to use TotalCommander – using one panel to view my files and second one to display tree view of my destination folders. I had high hopes about this solution, but it was really clunky and the panel with tree view kept scrolling by itself after each operation so I had to scroll it back down to see the target folders.
DropIt would be perfect if it’d let you define multiple of these “icons” that you could drop the files on
I am using Windows 10.
