  1. Latency test is less useful these days. During the test if you clap your hand or cough or someone’s blowing leaves outside, you will see high latency blocks. They are sensitive to any tiny vibrations. As long as nothing shows slow you are good.

  2. Looks terrible, give it to me and I’ll recycle it

  3. My glib answer is that is cartoon girl is smiling then it’s good to go. But she smiles even on failing drives

The inability to finish am extended test seems weird. It would probably take as long as a full format

  4. Sorry, the Read <5ms was cut off. It is 24761143

  5. Hello everybody, I have been running tests and several quick/full formats on my 14tb WD easystore external USB hard drive that I got on the recent Best Buy sale. This is actually my 2nd drive since the first one was making clicking noises every 5 seconds. This one also makes the noise, but I read more into it, and it’s likely due to the PWL feature. These are the tests I have done, and I would appreciate it if someone has any recommendations on whether this drive is ready to store data on, thanks:

Windows Quick Format: Successful, took few minutes

Windows Full Format: Successful, about 24 hours

Windows Error Check: Successful, few seconds

HDDScan Short SMART: Successful, 2 minutes

HDDSCAN Extended SMART: Hangs up at 90% after few minutes, cancelled after 2 days of being stuck at 90%, read online that this is common with WD drives

HDDSCAN Verify: Most values appeared to be <50ms and test proceeded very slow, cancelled after running overnight and read online that this may be due to the use of USB, screenshot is not of original run

HDDSCAN Read: Completed with no >500ms or bad blocks; most were <5ms with some <20ms, 23 hours

HDDSCAN Butterfly: Most values appeared to be <50ms and <5ms, cancelled after a couple hours of 0% progress, screenshot is not of original run

HDDSCAN Erase: Looked to be running successfully, cancelled after few minutes because results seemed to be similar to successful Read test

SMART info: Only values changed from initial use to now is reduction in spin-up time, increase in throughput performance and seek time performance

WD Digital Dashboard Quick Test: Successful, 2 minutes

WD Digital Dashboard Extended Test: Hangs up at 90% similar to HDDSCAN Extended, cancelled after about 18 hours
