  1. I think this has potential as a replacement for the floppy drive icon that has become obsolete.

  2. I don’t like it. It’s just a drive, and it doesn’t represent data hoarding, nor the community. This could be the symbol of any sub related to drives, or servers, or ducks (because yes, to me it looks like a duck lol).

I prefer the idea of the guy suggesting the overflowing bucket with 1s and 0s.

  3. This flag needs dual actuators.. I mean, this is 2019.

  4. It’s a cool idea, but there needs to be at least a hundred more of those stacked under it.

  5. r/vinyl be like “bro that’s ours it’s clearly a grailz spinning all night long”

  6. Two points:

    1. Every file is ultimately stored on a drive somewhere. Yes, some of it will be on blu-rays and SSDs, but the vast majority is on HDDs.

    2. The most important elements of flag design are simplicity, recognizability, and symbolism, *in that order*.

I think this is a fantastic flag!!!

  7. If we’re going to have a flag, it should be a bucket capturing an endless steam of 1s and 0s, except the bucket is completely over full and the bits are falling out of it…

  8. I like it but we should make it layered to represent not only community efforts but also the fact that the data is too big for a single drive. Many drives working for many of us to achieve a common goal of saving literally everything possible.

  9. This is a neat representation of a hard drive, but that isn’t the goal here. We want the data and ridiculous storage capabilities, the medium of that storage is irrelevant.
