Best cloud backup for 1-2 TB in 2-person household?

I’m trying to back up my photos and important documents (~1-2 TB) for myself and my gf. I’m tired of going on trips and being paranoid about something happening to my desktop.

Based on my research, I’ve found that cloud backup is recommended for its encryption. The most recommended service I’ve found was backblaze, but does it work well for multiple devices? It looks like it only backs up 1 computer. iDrive pitches itself as a cloud backup option for multiple devices which sounds convenient, but I’ve not seen much support for it on this subreddit.

Which cloud backup service would be best for my needs?

  1. Well, first of all, keep multiple backup copies like in 3-2-1 backup rule. For example, an external drive plus cloud. Here is also some good reading on various backup media options: [https://www.hyper-v.io/keep-backups-lets-talk-backup-storage-media/](https://www.hyper-v.io/keep-backups-lets-talk-backup-storage-media/). As to cloud, check for B2 as mentioned plus some free tool like Duplicacy to backup to it.

  2. To sum up, you can look at those links to get a list of clouds and compare them: [https://www.qualeed.com/en/qbackup/cloud-storage-comparison/](https://www.qualeed.com/en/qbackup/cloud-storage-comparison/)

  3. Microsoft 365 with OneDrive. Family plan gives you six 1TB storage accounts for $99/year. Will sync with your phone to cloud no problem. Can usually find family plan for $50-60 on sale around Black Friday too.

  4. Backblaze B2, create buckets as needed, unlimited space, pay for what you need. I’ve got about 500GB on there, paying a little over $2 a month. Encrypted and compressed.

  5. Backblaze is 1 computer per subscription, but includes external drives connected to that computer.

  6. I drive??? https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.idrive.com moving on…

pCloud backs up folders and files. 2tb for $99/year. If you believe they’ll be around for 3+ years as I do, 2tb Lifetime ( limited to 99 years) is US $350.

Sign up for a free account (limited to 5-10gb) to see how you like it. You can use your own backup program to back up to the P: drive or use their good but basic incremental backup feature.

Unlimited machines. Compatible with Windows, Apple, Linux, Android, iPhone, Commodore64. Just kidding about Commodore64!
